Forget about ratings, bubbles and anything else yapped about television shows, and just enjoy “Stargate: Universe” for being, well, “Stargate: Universe.”
And if you haven’t been making an appointment to watch the Syfy show recently, you may want to beginning Tuesday and running into next week as secrets are revealed, and surprise lurks in every corner.
Since the beginning of Season 2, Dr. Rush (Robert Carlyle) has been keeping a big secret from the rest of the Destiny crew: He discovered a control center, and he has almost total control of the ship. It’s a position of power he doesn’t want to give up, no matter what the circumstances.
OK, not every circumstance.
On Nov. 9, the Destiny comes across another ship that seems to be abandoned. But a discovery mission goes bad (where is that Asgard beaming technology when you need it?) and the terror of drifting in space comes to life. It’s a tough pickle two of Destiny’s two key crew members find themselves in, and the solution for saving them may not be exactly what Dr. Rush is looking for.
Then Nov. 16, Dr. Rush gets angry, and everything changes. Robert Knepper returns as Simeon — the bad boy Lucian Alliance guy — who is ready to put his plan in motion, and doesn’t care who he has to step on to make it happen. A desert chase could be deadly for at least one familiar face, if not the events leading up to it.
There are a lot of consequences faced by the Destiny crew each week, but none like what fans will see as “Stargate: Universe” kicks into high gear beginning Nov. 9 and continuing into Nov. 16.
“Stargate: Universe” airs Tuesdays at 9 p.m. ET on Syfy.
