Filming For Final 'Warehouse 13' Set To Begin

Sad day as production starts up for last time

For the last time, the cast and crew for "Warehouse 13" will assemble to start a season when production for Season 5 begins in Toronto on June 24.

The show earned a final shortened season last month after slowly eroding ratings sped up once Syfy moved the family show to its 10 p.m. timeslot on Mondays after "Defiance." With much of its audience in bed by then, especially on school nights, it was by far the beginning of the end for the show that officially launched Syfy's rebranding in 2009.

"'Warehouse 13' has been my dream job these past four years," showrunner Jack Kenny said in a statement. "The last six episodes will be a gift from my brilliant writing staff, and the best cast and crew in television to our amazingly loyal fans.

"I'm thrilled that we can build the climax of our Warehouse tale to a satisfying conclusion."

"Warehouse 13" premiered in the summer of 2009 with virtual unknowns Eddie McClintock and Joanne Kelly, joined by veteran actors Saul Rubinek and CCH Pounder. The show was a slow-burn success, picking up steam midway through the first season after Kenny came on board as an executive producer, and the show never looked back.

The series was a fascination mish-mash of humor and tear-jerking drama that involved not only the stars, but also the rest of the cast that would step in later, including Allison Scagliotti, Aaron Ashmore and Genelle Williams.

"Warehouse 13" airs Mondays at 10 p.m. ET on Syfy. The final season will premiere in early 2014.
