It's a sad roll call for what was supposed to be an exciting weekend of summer's biggest movie, "The Dark Knight Rises."

The names of the 12 people killed by a gunman in Aurora, Colo., early Friday morning have been released by the Arapahoe County Coroner's Office, and Airlock Alpha is stepping back to remember those innocent lives lost.

Jonathan T. Blunk, 26
Jonathan attended "The Dark Knight Rises" with a friend, Jansen Young, and reportedly threw her to the floor and protected her from the bullets once the shooting started, according to KRNV-Channel 4 in Reno. He spent five years in the U.S. Navy based out of San Diego, and leaves behind a 4-year-old daughter and a 2-year-old son. He also leaves behind his estranged wife, Chantel Blunk, who said she was informed of her husband's passing Friday evening.

Alexander J. Boik, 18
Alexander attended the screening with his girlfriend and a friend, and was a student at nearby Gateway High School, according to CNN. He was a lacrosse player who also worked as an independent distributor for the coffee company Organa Gold.

Jesse E. Childress, 29
Jesse was a staff sergeant with the U.S. Air Force based out of Buckley Air Force Base in Colorado. "This tragic event has affected everybody here at Buckley Air Force Base and our local community friends and neighbors," base commander Col Daniel Dant said in a statement to The Denver Post. "We are deeply saddened by the loss of each and every loved one." Three members of Childress' squadron arrived at the Century 16 theater in Aurora Saturday to remember their fallen soldier.

Gordon W. Cowden, 51
Gordon was the oldest of the victims in the shooting spree, and leaves behind a family of at least a son, according to the Twitter aggregation site Twitchy. His son Weston Cowden, according to his personal Facebook page, is a student at the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy in Kings Point, N.Y., and is a member of the Class of 2015 there.

Jessica Ghawi, 24
Jessica was one of the first victims to be identified by the media, an up-and-coming journalist who would use the name Jessica Redfield. She had actually just escaped another shooting in Toronto the month before that left one person dead and seven injured. She actually reflected on that incident in her personal blog, according to CNN: "I was shown how fragile life was on Saturday. I saw the terror on bystanders' faces. I saw the victims of a senseless crime. I saw lives change. I was reminded that we don't know when or where our time on Earth will end. When or where we will breathe our last breath."

John Thomas Larimer, 27
A third generation enlistee in the U.S. Navy, he was a Navy Petty Officer 3rd Class out of Buckley Air Force Base. He was originally from Crystal Lake, Ill. "I am incredibly saddened by the loss of Petty Officer John Larimer -- he was an outstanding shipmate," Cmdr. Jeffrey Jakuboski, Larimer's commanding officer, told CNN. "A valued member of our Navy team, he will be missed by all who knew him. My heart goes out to John's family, friends and loved ones, as well as to all the victims of this horrible tragedy."

Matthew R. McQuinn, 27
Matthew died trying to protect his girlfriend, Samantha Yowler, from the bullets, along with her brother, Nick Yowler. He was successful -- both Yowlers survived. Originally from Ohio, the couple moved to Denver last November.

Micayla C. Medek, 23
Cayla, as she was known to her friends, was an employee at a Subway sandwich shop in Aurora, and was said to be very spiritual. She was a student at the Community College of Aurora with plans to graduate in 2015. She described herself on Facebook as "a simple independent girl who's just trying to get her life together while still having fun."

Veronica Moser-Sullivan, 6
By far the youngest victim in the shooting, Veronica attended the film premiere with her mother, Ashley Moser. Ashley, however, is one of 11 people who remains hospitalized with bullet wounds, and has been floating in and out of consciousness, according to The Inquisitr. Annie Daulton, Veronica's aunt, told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution that Ashley keeps asking about her daughter, but that family members don't have the heart to tell her Veronica passed away. "She was a vibrant 6-year-old," Daulton said. "She was excited, she'd just learned how to swim. She was a great little girl, excited about life -- she should be at 6 years old."

Alex M. Sullivan, 27
Alex was actually an employee at the Century 16 who took the night off so that he could celebrate his birthday watching "The Dark Knight Rises." It was also just days before his first anniversary with his wife, Cassie Sullivan. "The Sullivan family lost a cherished member of their family," the family said in a statement to CNN. "Alex was smart, funny, and above all, loved dearly by his friends and family."

Alexander C. Teves, 24
Alexander was a recent graduate of the University of Denver, and in June, graduated with a master's degree in counseling psychology from the Morgridge College of Education. He was a native of Phoenix. His aunt, Barbara Slivinske of New Jersey, described him as "a wonderful nephew."

Rebecca Ann Wingo, 32
Rebecca, a mother of two, was given a touching tribute by her father on Facebook soon after the shooting as he tried to come to terms with her passing. "I lost my daughter yesterday to a mad man. My grief right now is inconsolable," Steve Hernandez wrote. "I hear she died instantly, without pain. However, the pain is unbearable. Lord why, why, why? I sit here and resist this entry. However, I feel I must, in digest, in dismay, in prayer, I love you my daughter Rebecca. We all will miss you."
