With Warner Bros. and Sony Pictures stumbling at the box office with two premieres, "Prometheus" had a chance to try and sneak a grab at No. 1. But it didn't quite make it.

"Prometheus" lost 60 percent of its box office take from the week before to finish with $20.2 million to one again finish behind the animated comedy "Madagascar 3: Europe's Most Wanted." That film lost just 41 percent of its opening week to remain No. 1 with $35.5 million.

That gives "Madagascar" $120.5 million in two weeks, while "Prometheus" has earned just $88.9 million. Both films beat new offerings "Rock of Ages" and "That's My Boy," which earned $15.1 million and $13 million respectively.

"Snow White & the Huntsman" fell just one place to No. 4, beating "That's My Boy," with $13.8 million. That brings its box office total to $122.6 million after three weeks. "Men In Black 3" moved up to $152.7 million with a $10 million weekend.

"The Avengers" won't go away. It's at No. 7 after earning $8.8 million over the weekend. That brings its total to $586.7 million after 45 days, and almost assures it will cross the $600 million mark once the dust settles. However, it will likely end up right where it is on the all-time list -- No. 3 behind "Avatar" and "Titanic" in domestic box office take. The film has made $723.3 million internationally, bringing its total to $1.3 billion.

"Battleship" moves just out of the top 10 with a $1.3 million weekend. That brings its one-month total to a paltry $62.2 million. "The Hunger Games" is now below $1 million for its weekends as the film exits theaters, but it has now grossed $401.8 million in the three months since it's been released.

Next weekend will be Pixar vs. fake vampire history as the animated feature "Brave" takes on "Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter." Unless the world falls off its axis, "Brave" will almost certainly take over No. 1, although there is some good speculation that the concept of "Abraham Lincoln" will give it a decent opening weekend. However, it's almost impossible for an R-rated film to compete with a family film, as "Prometheus" has discovered with "Madagascar 3."

It's way too early to see what critics think of either film. Only a handful of reviews are in for "Brave," with more than 60 percent liking it as of Monday, according to Rotten Tomatoes. No reviews have come in yet for "Abraham Lincoln."
