'Doctor Who' Pays His Debts In Christmas Special
Learn what will be waiting under your Tardis Christmas tree Dec. 25
On HBO's "Game of Thrones," a Lannister "always pays his debts." Apparently, the same is true for Time Lords, too, as The Doctor returns to World War II to pay off a big debt in time for Christmas.
Go to Google Maps and find out where Dorset is, because that's exactly where Matt Smith and his Tardis will end up for this year's "Doctor Who" holiday special.
With the Germans going all out on Great Britain, Madge Arwell and her two young children, Lily and Cyril, escape to an old house in Dorset, located in Southwest England. There she meets the house's caretaker, who just happens to wear a bow tie, according to Doctor Who Magazine.
The Doctor has a special surprise for the family, who will discover some magical new worlds through the Tardis.
The special stars Claire Skinner, Alexander Armstrong, Bill Bailey, Arabella Weir, Maurice Cole, Holly Earl and Paul Bazely. Skinner has appeared in a number of British television shows, but American audiences may recognize her as Beth Killian in 1999's "Sleepy Hollow." Armstrong is a familiar voice to "Sarah Jane Adventures" fans as the voice of the super computer, Mr. Smith.
Bailey has appeared in "Spaced," "Skins" and "Hustle." He has also popped up in films like "Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy" as the voice of the whale, and "Hot Fuzz" as Sgt. Turner. Weir has also appeared in a number of British television shows, including "Skins" and "MI:5" (known as "Spooks" in the United States.
Bazely most recently played Salaman in "Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides."
The last two Christmas episodes drew a British audience of more than 10 million people. While the most recent was the first to feature Smith, the one before it was the penultimate episode for David Tennant, who would have his version of The Doctor killed off in the rare New Year's Special.
The Christmas special will air Dec. 25 on BBC and is expected to once again air the same day on BBC America. Details, however, have not been released.
