More Powers To Be Revealed For Kate Mulgrew's Regent

Secrets and more continue to abound for 'Warehouse 13' guest star

There are so many things that Kate Mulgrew would like to reveal about her character of Regent Jane (we won't even reveal her last name here, because it might be a spoiler for some), but she can say it will get even better.

Mulgrew, best known to genre fans as Capt. Kathryn Janeway from the 1990s television series "Star Trek: Voyager," is in the middle of a four-episode arc on Syfy's "Warehouse 13," who shakes up the Warehouse in more ways than anyone could realize.

"I come as a very powerful Regent bearing an extraordinary secret," Mulgrew recently told reporters from various news outlets, including Airlock Alpha, during a recent conference call. Regents, by the way, are the "everyday people" who make the tough decisions about the Warehouse, to ensure that its contents remain safe once bagged and tagged.

"When the secret is revealed, I think the audience will be, to say the least, quite surprised," Mulgrew said. "It's both wonderful and rather frightening at the same time."

It's not clear whether that secret is one revealed at the end of her first episode, or if there is more coming.

Either way, Mulgrew says she's excited by the work Syfy has done in creating a stable of original programming, and was proud to be a part of it. And while the "Voyager" set could be an interesting place (thanks to the antics of actors like Tim Russ), the experience on the "Warehouse 13" set was much, much different.

"Jack Kenny has got to be one of the best showrunners I've ever worked with," she said. "And he sets the tone for the set.

"And on the sets there was not only a high degree of amiability, just short of conviviality, but a real sense of camaraderie. And it was collaborative, which you don't always get in episodic television, as I'm sure you gentlemen are aware."

Mulgrew also praised her colleagues on the set -- Saul Rubinek, Allison Scagliotti, Joanne Kelly, and who she described as the "diving" Eddie McClintock.

"Who could ask for a better core group? I mean, the ingredients were just there for a perfect soufflé."

Will there be a future for Regent Jane in future seasons of "Warehouse 13"? That's a question we'll have to wait to be answered.

"Warehouse 13" airs Mondays at 9 p.m. ET on Syfy, just after "Eureka" at 8 p.m. and followed by "Alphas" at 10 p.m.
