Eddie McClintock First Alpha Waves Guest As Radio Show Returns
The popular podcast from Airlock Alpha finds new home at Trek Radio
Now the rumors about George Takei killing Alpha Waves Radio can end.
The "Star Trek" legend was the final guest of Alpha Waves Radio, the popular podcast from Airlock Alpha, just before Christmas last year as the show signed off permanently from its former BlogTalkRadio home.
But now Alpha Waves Radio is returning, and it has a new place it's calling home: TrekRadio.
"I'm very excited to have such an exciting radio site dedicated to science-fiction fans hosting Alpha Waves Radio," said Michael Hinman, host of Alpha Waves Radio, and the founder of Airlock Alpha and the GenreNexus website network. "Zach Nicodemous and his crew there have built something quite amazing there, and the timing couldn't be more perfect."
And Alpha Waves Radio is not coming back quietly. It's first new broadcast -- scheduled to air at the start of San Diego Comic-Con on July 21 at 8 p.m. ET -- is scheduled to have "Warehouse 13" star and two-time Portal Award nominee Eddie McClintock as its special guest.
"I really don't know anyone more classy and more genuine than Eddie," Hinman said. "The chemistry that he has with Joanne Kelly, Saul Rubinek and Allison Scagliotti on 'Warehouse 13' really makes those wonderful stories come to life. And I think it's time we get some secrets out of Eddie that he hasn't shared anywhere else. Or, we can just talk about how much fun CCH Pounder is on the set. Guess we'll have to find out."
Alpha Waves Radio will remain in its current podcast format, meaning it will be pre-recorded and produced ahead of time. It will air at 8 p.m. ET with a rerun at 11 p.m. ET. Those wishing to hear the show through iTunes will still be able to do that, although the show will not be available until Saturday -- meaning those who tune in to TrekRadio will get to hear it all first.
Although Hinman expects to continue broadcasting just two episodes a month, off weeks will feature the "Best of Alpha Waves Radio," an encore broadcast of previous shows over the last three years of Alpha Waves Radio.
In fact, the first of those encore shows will air Thursday, July 14, at 8 p.m. and 11 p.m.
A player for TrekRadio -- including Alpha Waves Radio -- will be available on the main pages of all the GenreNexus sites including Airlock Alpha, Rabid Doll and Inside Blip.
TrekRadio is owned and operated by Nicodemous, and was first launched in June 2010. It is a partner with the International Federation of Trekkers, the official Star Trek fan club.
Airlock Alpha was founded as SyFy World in 1998, and was rebranded to its current moniker in February 2009. Alpha Waves Radio started as SyFy Radio in 2008, and has produced nearly 100 episodes.
Its host, Michael Hinman, actually has a background in radio, working in the news department of one radio station in Pennsylvania in 1993, and as a disc jockey at two others in 1994 and 1995. He later focused his career in print media, and added digital media a few years later.
