'Wonder Woman' Costume Revealed, Lynda Carter Approves

CONFIRMED: Adrianne Palicki will wear an adapted issue #600 costume

As previously reported, David E. Kelly's "Wonder Woman" series will not feature the classic costume that has helped the character become such a pop-culture icon over the years.

Instead, Adrianne Palicki's heroine will be cracking down on crime in the new updated costume of the comic #600 series … and now the costume has officially been revealed, thanks to Entertainment Weekly.

Dispensing with the traditional starred hot pants, this new outfit features form-fitting trousers, a smaller headband and a brand new logo. The original re-design of the costume originally took place for issue #600, which introduced a whole new time line and origin for the character. In addition to being a new look for a new world, the re-design drew some attention -- and in some cases, criticism -- which helped attract readers to the comic series.

Likewise, Kelly's interpretation has already attracted similar criticism without even completing work on a single episode, and that backlash will only become more fervent now that the character will officially be sporting the updated costume.

However, there is one person that will be supporting the new series and the new look: former Wonder Woman, Lynda Carter.

“I think she looks fabulous,” Carter told E! Online, speaking about Palicki and the costume. “It’s a new look and, jeez, her body looks fantastic.”

If – and when – the new series finally airs, Carter is sure that there will be additional comparisons, not only between the costumes but also between the actresses themselves. And Carter insists that viewers should give Palicki a chance before making their mind up.

“You know, I’m very sensitive to the fact that she will be compared,” Carter said. “There’s no getting around it. It is what it is. I would hope that people would cut her some slack.”

A pilot episode for "Wonder Woman" is currently being filmed in Los Angeles, CA and if it goes to series it will air in the fall on NBC.
