ABC Family To Offer Harry Potter Preview
PLUS: 'Prisoner of Azkaban' named as best movie of the decade
To say the ending of "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1" was a bit bleak is something of an understatement.
Lord Voldemorte finally located the elder wand, Dobby made his heroic stand and the intrepid team of wizards were no closer to finding a way to defeat the Death Eaters than they were when the film started. What does the second part of the final Harry Potter adventure have in store? Fans won't have long to find out as ABC Family will be airing a special sneak peak at the film before it hits theaters.
The family channel will broadcast a special behind-the-scene show as part of its Harry Potter weekend, featuring interviews with members of the cast and crew plus an insightful chat with director David Yates.
Most exciting of all, the show will also include actual footage from the upcoming grand finale to the series. Scenes to be featured will include an epic fight between Harry (Daniel Radcliffe) and Malfoy (Tom Felton) inside the Room of Requirement, sightings of the Gringotts dragon and of course parts of the final showdown between the boy who lived and he who shall not be named.
However, if that isn't enough to keep you in anticipation of the movie’s release, the DVD and Bluray of "The Deathly Hallows: Part 1" will showcase the entire opening scene from the sequel as part of its bonus features.
In other Harry Potter news, "The Prisoner of Azkaban" has been named film of the decade at the First Light Awards. BBC News is reporting that the movie, which was released in 2004, received the award at a ceremony at London's Odeon Leicester Square. The annual First Light awards is supported by the National Lottery via the UK Film Council and aims to pay tribute to films and shorts made by young people.
ABC Family's Harry Potter weekend launches on March 17 at 7.30 p.m. ET and "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2" is released on July 15.
