'Caprica' - Retribution

And just like that, James Marsters ended his run on 'Caprica'

This review may contain spoilers.

There's something puzzling about this Clarice (Polly Walker). She manages to be the head mistress of a school, she has a large family, and she runs the STO. Somehow, during all of this, she manages to escape to a cottage to see her friend Amanda Graystone (Paula Malcomson). She also dips into the virtual world once and awhile.

She's a busy woman - it's no wonder she has no problem killing off Barnabus' pawns so liberally. All she has to do is focus on the next task, and forget about how freely she takes life in the name of her God. She doesn't exactly sound like a religious woman, as much as she tries to be one, she's now a killer.

Daniel Graystone (Eric Stoltz) is not that much different from Clarice anymore. When "Caprica" started, Daniel had an exciting new idea to bring to his struggling company - and now he's desperate to get control of it back. He's resorted to blackmailing his staff. One could even say killing his staff, as he is now responsible for the suicide of one of his former employees. Probably not the best way to go about regaining control, but it will do for now.

Lacy (Magda Apanowicz), also has a new group of problems. Her plan to thwart Clarice didn't exactly play out according to plan, and now Barnabus (James Marsters) and her friends are dead. She's alone - where will she turn to next? She does have a conscience, will we see her turning into another Clarice as the show goes on, or is it not too late for her to get out of the STO?

What Worked

Amanda realizing the truth about Clarice. So far, this woman manages to keep her secret identities from a lot of different people - Amanda is no dummy, she's caught on to Clarice's guilt in her daughter's death. The question becomes what will Amanda do with that information? She didn't kill Clarice, as it appears that Clarice is ready to let her in on her secrets. What will happen if Amanda decides she wants in on the STO

What Didn't Work

It was too soon to kill off Barnabus. He could have become Clarice's evil counterpart, and another major player in the drama that unfolds on the show. His role was, unfortunately, marginalized.
