'Caprica' Returns In 2011, But Still No Word On Season 2
Syfy prepping the second half of Season 1 for January
Syfy is not in much of a hurry to air the final 10 episodes of "Caprica's" first season, but come January, fans will finally have a chance to see how the "Battlestar Galactica" spinoff will continue on.
The cable channel says it will pick up where it left off in January, saying the show will kick off a "thrilling pace" as the people of Caprica deal with the chaotic aftermath of the mid-season finale's harrowing events. That includes an attempt on the life of Sister Clarice (Polly Walker), the ending of the life of Amanda Graystone (Paula Malcomson), and the Cylon known as Zoe (Alessandra Torresani) preferring explosions over continued captivity in her father's lab.
How will it all end up? Fans attending San Diego Comic-Con this weekend will have a chance to see a new trailer highlighting the upcoming episodes. It will take place during the "Caprica" panel on June 23, and will be made available on Syfy.com soon after.
Syfy is promising in the upcoming episodes that Caprica -- as well as life across the colonies -- will fall prey to an "explosive chain reaction of consequences set off by the characters' many questionable actions in the season's first half." That includes power shifts, rising tensions, and the line between what's real and what's virtual becoming even more blurred.
The show also stars Eric Stoltz, Esai Morales and Sasha Roiz.
There is still no word on whether or not Syfy will pick "Caprica" up for a second season. As previously reported, rumors are that Syfy will announce the fate of "Caprica" at the Television Critics Association summer press tour next month, and not this weekend at Comic-Con. The show, although a favorite of many critics, struggled in the ratings over its first 10 episodes, and its return for a second season remains in question.
However, because the show is a spinoff of its former signature program, "Battlestar Galactica," and the faith network executives have in the show, there are reports that Syfy does intend to pick up "Caprica" for a second season.
