It's already on DVD, well at least an almost R-rated version of it, but now you can watch it from your computer.

Syfy announced Monday it was taking the unprecedented step of releasing a modified (and censored) version of "Caprica" for free via Web streaming, and it's now being offered in a number of locations, including Airlock Alpha, for your viewing pleasure. (Read the full story about this move from Syfy by clicking here).

"Caprica" takes place some 50 years before the events that unfolded in "Battlestar Galactica," the critically acclaimed series that ended its four-season run earlier this year. It features two families, the Graystones -- a Bill Gates-like family credited with creating the Cylons -- and the Adamas who, well, you know what that family ends up doing.

In any event, Syfy does make it clear that what they are streaming is not the full broadcast version that will end up airing on the network in January. There are some new scenes and special effects, but there will be even more during the actual premiere, including a cool look into the first season of "Caprica."

The new series premieres Jan. 22 on Syfy.
