BSG Composer To Host Online Concert

Band features several BSG alums

Bear McCreary, music composer for SciFi Channel's top-rated "Battlestar Galactica" television series, will lead his band, 17 Billion Miles of DNA, in a live Internet concert Oct. 20 at midnight ET, 9 p.m. PT.

The event features McCreary's "bizarre little jazz band" in what he describes as Django Reinhardt meets Astor Piazzola meets Axl Rose. The band includes lead vocals by Bt4 -- a vocalist in McCreary's BSG score -- as well as M.B. Gordy on drums, another alum of the "Galactica" musical score.

The concert will air live at www.kulakswoodshed.com.

The band also will perform live at The Mint, 6101 W. Pico Blvd., in Los Angeles, Oct. 18 at 9 p.m. PT. They will open for Raya Yarbrough, a singer whose voice also has appeared in "Galactica," more specifically the recent episode "Pegasus" when Adm. Cain (Michelle Forbes) first boards Galactica.

While the Internet performance is free, The Mint cover charge is $7. For more information on The Mint, call (323) 954-8241.

McCreary is very active in the band, playing his favorite instrument, the accordion, and providing all the original songs and arrangements.
