Last week's series low ratings may have just been a fluke for "Fringe" after all.
Thursday's episode rebounded to its pre-World Series numbers with a 3.7 rating/6 share, according to Fast National ratings from The Nielsen Co. That's a 19 percent jump from the previous week, but still finished well behind everything that was on The CW.
The 3.7/6 is the average "Fringe" is carrying over seven episodes, down more than 41 percent from its average last year in a slot that didn't have it competing with some of the best from ABC and CBS. Even worse, "Fringe" lost 38 percent of its lead-in audience from "Bones."
"FlashForward" has yet to find its stable audience footing. The ABC program from David S. Goyer and Brannon Braga earned a 5.3/8, according to Zap2it, a 3.6 percent drop from the previous week, and representing a more than 14 percent drop since it bounced up to a 6.2/10 on Oct. 22.
The latest numbers are some 13 percent below its average so far this season, and is ABC's lowest-rated show on Thursdays behind "Grey's Anatomy" and "Private Practice." It did, however, beat the comedy block of "Community" and "Parks and Recreation" on NBC, as well as "Vampire Diaries" on The CW, despite that show soaring up to a 2.8/4, nearly 12 percent over its average so far.
For the night, CBS was the winner with a 9.5/15 followed by ABC's 7.2/11.
Fast Nationals usually provide a snapshot of what Americans are watching by pulling numbers from the top urban markets that includes both live viewing and same-day timeshifted viewing. A rating point generally represents more than 1.1 million households while the share indicates the percentage of televisions turned on that was tuned to the specific program. These numbers typically shift when final ratings are issued.
