‘Arrow’ Unleashes Captain Boomerang

DC villain will be played by ‘Spartacus’ actor Nick Tarabay; the CW series returns Oct. 8

“Spartacus” actor Nick Tarabay will star as the DC Comics villain Captain Boomerang in Season 3 of The CW’s “Arrow,” according to

Making his debut in Episode 7, Tarabay takes on the role of Digger Harkness, who moonlights as Captain Boomerang, a former A.R.G.U.S operative. Harkness seeks vengeance against his former employer using his skills with specialized boomerangs, martial arts and espionage.

Harkness will also appear in Episode 8, which features a crossover story with The CW’s new series “The Flash.”

Other characters along for the ride this season are Ray Palmer (Brandon Routh), who becomes Atom; Ted Grant (J.R. Ramirez), who becomes Wildcat; Mark Shaw (David Cubitt), who becomes Manhunter and is an A.R.G.U.S. operative; Ra’s al Ghul (Matt Nable); Katana (Devon Aoki); a new Count Vertigo (Peter Stormare); Felicity’s mother (Charlotte Ross); Maseo (Karl Yune); and Austin Butler as a DJ who becomes a romantic interest for Thea (Willa Holland).

“Arrow” follows billionaire Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell) who, after being stranded on a hostile island for five years, becomes a street vigilante to combat his city’s rampant crime and corruption.

The series was developed by writer-producers Greg Berlanti, Andrew Kreisberg and Marc Guggenheim, and is based on the popular DC Comics character Green Arrow.

Captain Boomerang made his debut in December 1960 in “Flash No. 117.” He has been associated with the Suicide Squad and was a key member of the Rogues, who battled the Flash in Central City.

In addition to starring in “Spartacus” as Ashur, Tarabay has appeared in such television series as “Crash,” “Believe” and “Burn Notice.”
