DC Comics’ Firestorm will make his live-action debut on The CW’s upcoming “Arrow” spinoff, “The Flash,” according to The Hollywood Reporter.
“The Tomorrow People” actor Robbie Amell is taking on the recurring role of Ronnie Raymond, who in the comics is bonded with another man, Martin Stein, to form the nuclear-powered superhero Firestorm.
“(Executive producers) Geoff Johns, Andrew Kreisberg and I designed the pilot and series to include Ronnie (aka Firestorm) -— and to actually have someone with Robbie’s talent playing the role is beyond exciting,” said executive producer Greg Berlanti. “We can’t wait for viewers and fans of the character to check it out.”
In “The Flash,” Raymond is a Central City S.T.A.R. Labs maintenance worker whose
work is associated with the particle accelerator accident that grants Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) with the power of super speed.
Raymond will appear in the third episode, and he is the fiance of Danielle Panabaker’s character, Caitlin Snow.
The first Firestorm comic, “Firestorm, the Nuclear Man No. 1,” made its debut in March 1978 and was created by Gerry Conway and Al Milgrom. Firestorm has served as a member of the Justice League of America, and he possesses a variety of powers including the ability to rearrange the atomic and subatomic structure of inorganic matter.
“The Flash,” which premieres Oct. 7 at 8 p.m. ET, also stars Carlos Valdes, Tom Cavanagh, Jesse L. Martin, John Wesley Shipp, Candice Patton and Rick Cosnett.
