Syfy Redesigns Gaming Portal

Syfy Games will feature exclusive content, free-to-play games

Ready to get your game on?

Syfy Ventures recently announced a major redesign of Syfy Games that will expand access to much of the web’s best free-to-play games, including massively multiplayer online, role-playing, strategy and action.

“Syfy’s global audience consists of serious gamers who are hungry for premium gaming content,” said Jeff Li, vice president of Syfy Ventures. “Few game portals do an excellent job of connecting highly qualified users to the best free-to-play online games. Our staff will select only the finest games and offer them on a platform that maximizes game discovery.”

Syfy has provided gaming opportunities for several years. However, judging from the forum traffic on the site, the previous site was not attracting the volume that Syfy expected.

The new Syfy Games will allow gamers to enter any number of game worlds from one log-in profile and explore various community features on the portal.

In addtion, several new games will launch this month. “Forge of Empires,” “Mecha Galaxy,” “Kings & Legends,” “Skyshard Heroes,” “Yi Tien,” “Nemexia” and “Call of Roma” are all scheduled to be added soon. The site promises to add more genre games by the end of the year.

Existing games also will benefit from the redesign. Fans of “Battlestar Galactica Online” will gain access to both an exclusive Syfy sector and a special mission. Completing these sectors will earn rare weapons as a reward for top mission performances.

Syfy Ventures serves as the business development and new enterprise unit for Syfy. Syfy Games is the umbrella brand for Syfy’s gaming projects: SyfyGames.com, Trion Worlds (“Defiance”) and Bigpoint (Battlestar Galactica Online).
