First Cast Members Announced For ‘Dominion’

Christopher Egan, Tom Wisdom, Alan Dale added to Syfy supernatural pilot

Syfy has cast Christopher Egan, Tom Wisdom and Alan Dale in the pilot for “Dominion,” a television series based on characters from the 2010 film “Legion.”

“Dominion” is an epic supernatural action drama set 25 years after the events of “Legion” and picking up in the aftermath of a catastrophic war between an army of angels and mankind that has transformed the world.

Egan will play lead character Alex Lannen, an orphan with both a rebellious and protective streak. Handsome, heroic and fearless, Alex is classified as a grunt soldier in Michael’s Archangel Corp., but he is destined for more than his lowly classification in the post-Extermination War society of Vega (once known as Las Vegas) might indicate.

Michael (played by Wisdom) is the greatest of the warrior archangels. Scarred by millennia of battle, Michael is stoic, inscrutable and haunted. Instrumental in helping humanity defeat the angels during the Extermination War, Michael is now entrenched in Vega, using his superior supernatural abilities to defend the city’s inhabitants from enemy attacks.

Alan Dale plays Rysen, the general who led the humans to victory against the angels during the Extermination War. Responsibilities weigh heavily upon him as ruler of Vega, one of four cities left standing after the war. He now finds himself negotiating politics in the heavily militarized city, maintaining calm over its stratified society and keeping a watchful eye on his daughter, Claire.

Egan is known for roles in the NBC drama “Kings” as well as “Letters to Juliet” and “Eragon.” Wisdom has appeared in “300,” “Pirate Radio,” “The Lightkeepers” and the upcoming “Romeo and Juliet.”

Dale played lead roles in “The OC” and “Ugly Betty,” and has also appeared in “Lost,” “24,” “NCIS,” “Entourage,” “The Killing” and “Once Upon a Time.” On the big screen, he had roles in “Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull,” “Star Trek: Nemesis” and next year’s “Captain America: The Winter Soldier.”

Produced by Universal Cable Productions, the pilot script for “Dominion” was written by Vaun Wilmott and will be directed by Scott Stewart (director and co-writer of “Legion”). Michel Litvak and David Lancaster, producers of “Legion,” will also serve as executive producers alongside Wilmott and Stewart.

Released in 2010, “Legion” proved to be a modest box office success, grossing more than $67 million worldwide on a $26 million budget. It starred Paul Bettany, Dennis Quaid, Lucas Black, Tyrese Gibson, Adrianne Palicki and Charles S. Dutton.

“Dominion” is set to begin production later this month in Cape Town, South Africa, and could air in 2014 if picked up for series.
