Syfy Comic-Con Panels Include ‘Helix,’ ‘Warehouse 13’

Also, ‘Defiance,’ ‘Being Human’ will be represented

It’s going to be a smaller schedule for Syfy when the popular cable channel makes its appearance at San Diego Comic-Con this year. But then again, this is probably just the beginning.

Syfy will bring its popular new show “Defiance” back, as well as its upcoming Ronald D. Moore series “Helix.” The convention this year will also have what will likely be a tearful goodbye to its long-running “Warehouse 13,” which is now filming its final season.

The cable channel’s panels will mostly be found at the Hilton Bayfront, staying out of the main convention center, with the exception of “Defiance,” which will be found in Room 6A Friday morning, July 19 at 10:30.

For “Defiance,” Syfy is expected to bring many of the stars including Grant Bowler (Nolan), Julie Benz (Amanda Rosewater), Stephanie Leonidas (Irisa), Tony Curran (Datak Tarr), Jaime Murray (Stahma Tarr), Jesse Rath (Alak Tarr) as well as executive producer and showrunner Kevin Murphy.

Right after, in the same room beginning at 11:45 a.m., Syfy will introduce the world to “Helix,” the new series from the man who successfully rebooted “Battlestar Galactica.” Moore himself will lead the panel, but it’s not clear if he will be joined by any other potential cast or crew.

“Helix” is a thriller that centers on a disease outbreak in a desolate Arctic outpost.

On Saturday, everything will move into the the neighboring Hilton Bayfront with “Being Human.” That panel will include cast members Sam Witwer (Aidan), Meaghan Rath (Sally), Sam Huntington (Josh), Kristen Hager (Nora) and executive producer Anna Fricke.

That panel starts at 4 p.m. in the Indigo Ballroom of the hotel.

Right after is “Warehouse 13” with Eddie McClintock (Pete), Joanne Kelly (Myka), Saul Rubinek (Artie), Allison Scagliotti (Claudia) and showrunner Jack Kenny.

In past years, Syfy has taken over a restaurant in San Diego’s Gaslamp Quarter near the convention center, last year theming it to “Defiance.” No word on if that will happen again this year or not. Also, Syfy has not released it if it will be featuring any of its unscripted shows at this year’s convention.

San Diego Comic-Con begins July 18, and be sure to read Airlock Alpha as well as sister sites 1701News and Rabid Doll for all the on-site updates.
