‘Torchwood,’ ‘Being Human’ Actor Goes Missing

Richard Gent has not been seen in two weeks

Richard Gent, an actor who had minor roles in shows like “Torchwood” and the BBC version of “Being Human,” has disappeared, and has his family fearing the worst.

Gent, 27, was last seen the early evening of April 21 at his home in West Hampstead, according to police there. His family said both his phone and his wallet was found at his house, and that his bank account has not been accessed since he went missing. They also said that no large cash amounts were removed just before his disappearance either, according to The Stage.

Gent disappeared while he was going through a rough patch in life, according to London’s Evening Standard. He had just lost a job at a call center, which he used to support himself between acting gigs. Instead of moving back with his family in Chippenham, Wiltshire, Gent decided to remain in London.

“We cling to the hope that someone somewhere might just recognize him and bring him back to his family who miss him so much,” said his mother, Alison Gent. “He loved London so much, and the buzz of the place, and he wanted to try to make it work there. This is really out of the blue.”

It is not clear exactly what roles Gent played in “Torchwood” and “Being Human,” but they were likely minor characters, possibly non-speaking. His profile on Internet Movie Database lists only one credit, an unnamed gang leader character in the British series “Casualty” more than a decade ago.

He is described to be about 6 feet tall, slim, with short dark blond hair. Family members hope someone he might be staying with, or someone who may have auditioned with him recently, will recognize him, and report his whereabouts to the police.

Anyone who has seen Richard Gent is urged to contact London law enforcement officials. Details on how to contact them can be found here.
