Bad Guys, Spock, And Star Trek Spoilers

… oh my

This story contains potential spoilers for the upcoming film “Star Trek 2.”

If you really want to take your seat in the movie theater next year and have absolutely no knowledge about the film we’re calling “Star Trek 2” when the opening credits role, you might want to stop reading now.

If you’re one of those people who like to peek ahead a little, we’ll do you a favor and start with the least interesting rumored spoilers about “Star Trek 2” first … and then work our way up.

But be warned: Even though none of these elements have been confirmed by anyone at Paramount or anyone working on the film, there are many indications that these reported rumors are accurate. But either way, they are still rumors, and should be treated as any rumor would (as in, it might not be true).

So here is the first news, and it comes from TrekMovie: The Klingons are finally back, and we’ll get to see how J.J. Abrams re-invisions them.

If cut scenes from 2009’s “Star Trek” are any clue, they haven’t changed much at all, except now they have pretty cool helmets. But Klingons are taking a primary role in this adventure.

“This spoiler seems to be a no-brainer,” TrekMovie reports. “The Klingons are likely Star Trek’s best-known adversary aliens, and they appeared in most of the movies featuring the original cast.”

In fact, the Klingons were the primary bad guys in “Star Trek III: The Search for Spock,” “Star Trek V: The Final Frontier” and “Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country.” They made appearances in “Star Trek: The Motion Picture” and “Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home.”

Outside of Worf, the Klingons took a backseat in the films based on “Star Trek: The Next Generation.” It was an El-Aurien as a bad guy in “Star Trek Generations” (although the Duras sisters did help him out), the Borg in “Star Trek: First Contact,” Picard himself (or a clone of him) in “Star Trek: Nemesis,” and people are still trying to figure out what the heck “Star Trek: Insurrection” was all about.

And in the most recent “Star Trek,” the bad guys were Romulans.

So the Klingons are back, and likely will not end up on the cutting room floor like they did the last time.

Finished with spoilers? Or are you looking for more?

OK, fine. How about one that involves a Vulcan. A famous Vulcan. Like Spock. And not the one played by Zachary Quinto.

It seems Leonard Nimoy really let the cat out of the bag when he told CNN that he was “talking” about a return in “Star Trek 2.”

Well, Ain’t It Cool News is reporting that Nimoy is indeed back as Spock Prime. He might be sharing some insight on the main bad-guy (hint: he’s seen him before), or maybe Nimoy is simply rubbing it into William Shatner for not being able to return.

But it looks like there will once again be two Spocks, with a connection to the former universe that was disrupted in 2009 still keeping representation.

There you go, enough spoilers to hold you over, right? No? One more?

Are you sure?

All right … here it goes.

One last chance?

Benedict Cumberbatch is playing a very well-known bad guy. And AICN says it’s who everyone thought it was in the first place: Khan Noonien Singh.

Not “Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan” Khan, and not even “Space Seed” Khan. This Khan gets an introduction in a whole new way, and sources say fans are going to like it.

We did warn you.
