Erin Way Joins ‘Alphas’ In Season 2

Show will return in July on Syfy

“Alphas” returns in July not only with the launch of a second season, but also with a new cast member.

Erin Way, who has appeared in “Detroit 1-8-7” and “I <3 Vampires,” will join “Alphas” as Kat, a young girl with her own special powers, who will join the team of other empowered investigators. Kat, according to a release from Syfy, is a “free-spirited young loner” who can pick up any skill at a single glance. The only problem is that her memories are very short-lived, and her new skill can fade pretty quickly. However, she has a lost past, and she is depending on Dr. Rosen, played by David Strathairn, to help her find it. Way, 24, played Wendy Chapin-Lomeister in “Detroit 1-8-7,” which lasted just a season on ABC. She also appeared in 27 episodes of “I <3 Vampires,” a Web series from Walt Disney Co.’s Take180, which lasted two seasons. She got her start in the series “Girlfriends” in 2007, and would later appear in “Splatter,” “Day One” and “Hawaii Five-0.” She is set to appear alongside Christopher McDonald and Daniel Sharman in the horror/thriller “The Collection” later this year. She also is set to make an appearance in the John Schneider film “Doonby.” “Alphas” sees the return of its ensemble cast this season that includes Strathairn, Malik Yoba, Warren Christie, Azita Ghanizada, Ryan Cartwright and Laura Mennell. It will, however, have new leadership. Bruce Miller, late of the one-time Syfy hit “Eureka,” has taken over showrunner duties from Ira Steven Behr. Zak Penn, who co-created the series with Michael Karnow, is an executive producer, along with Gail Berman, Lloyd Braun and Gene Stein. The show had a respectable first season for Syfy, premiering with 2.5 million viewers before settling down to just under 1.2 million viewers each week.
