Ben Browder Set For Trip In ‘Doctor Who’ Tardis

Popular genre actor will appear in Toby Whithouse’s upcoming episode

A lot of great names have been shared so far as special guests in the upcoming delayed season of “Doctor Who.” But this could be one of the biggest genre ones yet.

Ben Browder, best known for his work in “Farscape” and “Stargate SG-1,” is making the trip across the pond to appear in an early-season episode of “Doctor Who.”

Although details of Browder’s character was not released by the official Doctor Who Magazine that first shared the news, it appears the actor will be in an episode set in 19th century America, but will be filmed in Spain. The episode is expected to be the third one aired in the seventh season, which itself premieres in the fall.

The episode is one that was written by “Being Human” developer Toby Whithouse. This is actually the fourth episode of “Doctor Who” offered by Whithouse, who also wrote “School Reunion” in 2006, “Vampires of Venice” in 2010 and “The God Complex” in 2011.

Browder will be without Claudia Black, however, his popular co-star from both “Farscape” and “SG-1” — although it’s hard to deny how great of a coup that would be for “Doctor Who.”

Browder most recently appeared in one of the final episodes of “Chuck” on NBC, appearing in “Chuck vs. the Bullet Train.” He also stars in the comedy mystery “Bad Kids Go to Hell” with Judd Nelson that is expected to be released later this year.

Whithouse will be joined in the writers room this season by another familiar face, Chris Chibnall. He wrote the “Doctor Who” episodes “42,” “The Hungry Earth” and “Cold Blood.” Chibanall returns after a two-year break, spent on his short-lived Starz series “Camelot.”
