“Smallville” actress Allison Mack originally signed on for the tenth and final season of the series for only 5 episodes. Now that those episodes have finished their run fans have been wondering if she will return to the series she’s called home for 10 years to make an appearance in its final episode.
The answer is yes. And, according to Mack, her decision to return was out of the need to pay homage to Chloe Sullivan.
At the beginning of the season, Chloe gave herself over to the Suicide Squad to save Oliver Queen (Justin Hartley) and faked her own death in the process. At the halfway point, she made a brief return as the leader of the squad. After a handful of appearances, Chloe said her goodbyes to Metropolis and set out for the bright lights of Star City with Ollie.
In “Finale” though, Chloe will return for an emotional conclusion to the series.
“I’m in the finale, which is a two-parter, so technically I’m in the last two,” she told TVGuide. “It was really amazing, it was emotional and loving and sweet and nostalgic. It’s ending in a way that I think is very honourable given that we’ve been around for ten years.”
According to the actress, her decision to make a comeback was made whilst filming her earlier appearances in the season.
“I had a realization, while I was doing the five episodes, that this has been such a huge part of my life,” she said. “I wanted to make sure that I was respectful of that. So coming back just seemed to make sense given all those thoughts and ideas that I had about the whole experience.”
No details have leaked on the finale yet although the episode is said to revolve heavily around Clark Kent (Tom Welling) and his transformation into Superman. Michael Rosenbaum will be making a re-appearance as Lex Luthor.
“Smallville” returns to The CW on April 15.
