The sixth season of “Doctor Who” is only a couple of months away, and now casting reports are starting to surface.
Stand-up comedian Charlie Baker has signed on to appear in an episode playing a character known only as “Fat Man.” Joining him in the episode is Dan Johnston, who is being described as “Thin Man.”
Baker, who is probably better known for his comedy work, has also starred in an episode of “The IT Crowd” as well as a panelist on “Never Mind The Buzzcocks.”
Meanwhile, Johnston has previously appeared in “The Bill” (a long-running police drama in the United Kingdom) and “After You’ve Gone.”
In the upcoming sixth season, The Doctor (Matt Smith), Amy (Karen Gillan) and Rory (Arthur Darvill) will not only be traveling the galaxy but also the United States.
The opening episodes will take the trio to Utah for a special American-themed episode that will surely delight fans from both continents.
The season will also see The Doctor go head-to-head with Nazis, the Secret Service, the Ood and a whole set of new creatures that aim to terrify.
Other casting reports have confirmed that child actresses Fern Duncan and Frances Encell have been contracted for voice appearances in the season.
No date has been set for the series but it is expected to launch on both BBC One and BBC America in the spring.
