While fans still have almost a year before the “Doctor Who” spinoff “Torchwood” returns, new details have emerged on the latest additions to the team.
The BBC/Starz-produced drama has decided to put out a casting call for four new characters, two CIA agents, a doctor (no, not that doctor) and a convicted murderer.
Details about the first agent, named Esther Katsui, describe her as a religious person with “a strong faith in mankind.” She will also be an “optimist” and involved with her partner, Rex Matheson, a Harvard-educated “golden boy destined for success.”
Also added to the story will be the murderer Oliver Jones. He is said to be a dangerous and clever individual that will be integral to the terrifying events faced by the characters.
Dr. Vera Juaraz is the fourth person who also will be introduced in the new run and will become caught up in the Torchwood team’s mission.
John Barrowman and Eve Myles have been confirmed to reprise their roles in the show, which last aired in 2009 with the five-part “Children of Earth” miniseries.
Casting for the characters is said to be ongoing.
“Torchwood: The New World” is expected to air on Starz in the United States and on BBC in the United Kingdom sometime next summer.
