Death Is Not Always The End On ‘Lost’

ABC’s castaway drama series prepares to welcome back some familiar faces

This story contains major spoilers for the upcoming final season of ABC’s “Lost.”

Normally when you die on television, you stay dead.

Not on “Lost” it seems as the ABC castaway drama is preparing to welcome back some familiar faces from the show’s past, including some fan favorites that perished at the very beginning of the show’s run.

The first survivor of Oceanic 815 making a surprise return is Ian Somerhalder, who played Boone. Back in the first season, the character became something of a disciple to John Locke (Terry O’Quinn) after witnessing some of the abilities that the island bestowed upon him. Then, after an accident involving a drug runner plane, Boone lost his leg and eventually died.

It was Boone’s passing that sent Locke into the jungle to find a mysterious beam of light emanating from the hatch.

Also joining him is his on-show sister Shannon, played by Maggie Grace. According to Digital Spy, Grace is one cast member that producers have been wanting to bring onto the show for a while, however her busy schedule prevented any reprisal from taking place before now.

But don’t expect any kind of reunion for the two – Somerhalder, who can currently be seen in The CW’s “The Vampire Diaries,” already has completed filming for the show with Grace still to go before the camera. The collection of scenes are expected to be cut together for a single episode in the back half of the season.

“Lost” will start its final season in January 2010, although ABC has yet to announce an official schedule.
