Chris McKay has graduated from superheroes made out of Legos, to superheroes made out of actual people.
Superheroes like Nightwing, the latest DC Comics character Warner Bros. has decided to bring to the silver screen. And The Lego Batman Movie director McKay is in line to helm it, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The Nightwing project joins Warner Bros.’ growing DC extended universe as the studio focuses on mining some of DC’s most-beloved characters for new films. As an example, Gotham City Sirens, with David Ayer attached to direct, will focus on the female villains of the universe, including Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn.
Nightwing was first introduced in 1963 as an alter-ego of Superman. However, the character moved over to the Batman side in the 1980s as part of the Teen Titans series as a persona adopted by Dick Grayson after he graduates from being Batman’s sidekick, Robin.
In fact, it was Superman’s earlier use of the character that inspires Grayson to take on the persona later.
