Reeves officially replaces star Ben Affleck at the helm, who left that particular job last month citing concern of handling both his acting and directing responsibilities.
In a prepared statement to The Hollywood Reporter, Reeves said he has loved Batman since he was a young boy.
“He is such an iconic and compelling character, and one that resonates with me deeply. I am incredibly honored and excited to be working with Warner Bros., to bring an epic and emotional new take on the Caped Crusader to the big screen.”
This all comes after Reeves reportedly walked away from the negotiations over the weekend that left the project in serious jeopardy. At the time, trade publications said those talks could resume at any moment, and it’s likely any deal Reeves signs would be for multiple pictures.
