Paramount Pictures may have stalled a sequel to its Friday the 13th reboot, but Miramax is not letting that stop its plans to move forward with a Halloween reboot.
The horror film now has a director-writer team, according to The Hollywood Reporter: David Gordon Green and Danny McBride.
Green got his directing break with the crime comedy Pineapple Express in 2008 starring James Franco and Seth Rogen. He then moved almost primarily to television, directing episodes of Eastbound & Down on HBO as well as Amazon series Red Oaks.
He also is set to direct an episode of HBO’s comedy Vice Principals, which stars (and was co-created by) McBride. Just as Eastbound & Down and a series of other projects. In fact, the two have collaborated on more than 60 projects, at least according to IMDb.
Green and McBride may have to get past some skepticism from Halloween fans, but they at least got the endorsement of franchise co-creator John Carpenter. He took to Facebook Thursday to give Green and McBride a vote of confidence.
