If you’ve circled the July 2018 release date on your calendar for the premiere of The Flash solo film, let’s just hope you did it in pencil. Because as each day passes, that target release date is looking more and more unlikely.

First, director Rick Famuyiwa departed the film, and now The Hollywood Reporter is sharing the news that Warner Bros. and DC Entertainment have rejected Famuyiwa’s last draft of the film, and brought in medieval period writer Joby Harold to start the script process all over again.

We are being a little facetious when we describe Harold as a “medieval period” writer, primarily because his most recent projects are Guy Ritchie’s King Arthur: Legend of the Sword that hits theaters in May, as well as yet another take on Robin Hood, this time starring Sing‘s Taron Egerton in the title role.

Harold also was behind the 2007 film Awake that starred Hayden Christensen and Jessica Alba about a man who suffers “anesthetic awareness,” and is awake through an entire invasive surgical procedure. That thriller earned just under $33 million at the box office, against an $8.6 million budget.
