The current slate of Star Trek movies might take place outside of the franchise’s “prime” universe. But it doesn’t mean someone known for creating what many enjoy today as Amazon Prime from participating in those films.
Jeff Bezos, the founder and chief executive of the online retail company Amazon, took a step onto the Enterprise, playing an alien in next week’s “Star Trek: Beyond.” Both producer J.J. Abrams and director Justin Lin confirmed Bezos’ involvement to the Associated Press on Friday while the two were promoting the film.
“He was awesome,” Lin said. “It was like a president visiting, you know? He had a big entourage.”
Bezos apparently brought a security detail, and waited most of the day for his scene to be filmed, described as a tracking shot that included his character. No other details on what Bezos is playing was shared.
