Fall is almost here, and you know it when Emmy nominations celebrating the best in television this past year are finally revealed.
And while there might not be any Star Trek in the mix, as usual, there are more than two dozen nominees who have Star Trek conventions.
In a quick perusal of the nominee list (which you can find right here), two big names from recent films pop up right away.Benedict Cumberbatch, who played Khan in 2013’s “Star Trek: Into Darkness,” has been nominated for lead actor in a limited series for his work in “Sherlock: The Abominable Wife.”
Joining him in that category is the bad guy who succeeded him,Idris Elba, for his work in “Luther.” Elba, of course, plays Krall in the upcoming “Star Trek: Beyond,” which hits theaters next week.
For Cumberbatch, this is his fourth Emmy nomination, actually winning the award in 2014 for “Sherlock.” Cumberbatch also was nominated for an Oscar in 2015 for “The Imitation Game.”
Elba now has five Emmy nominations, almost all for “Luther,” and an additional one in 2010 for “The Big C.”
